The Town Clerk's Office is responsible for a variety of functions in the Town of Ridgefield. Please use our menu links to learn more about each type of service. A brief synopsis of each function is provided below:
The Town Clerk's Office maintains all of the Land Records including Deeds, Mortgages and Survey Maps.
Our office maintains Vital Records such as Birth, Death, Marriage and Civil Union records and issues certified copies of such. We also issue Burial and Cremation permits and maintain the Sexton reports.
We receive and manage agendas and minutes of 35 Town Boards and Commissions including agendas and minutes of all Town Meetings and Public Hearings.
Business Certificates and Licensing
We record and manage Trade Names Certificates for businesses doing business in the Town of Ridgefield.
Elections & Voting
The Town Clerk has many responsibilities in adminstering Elections. Among these are: Issuing, mailing and recording Absentee Ballots; Nominating Petitions; Candidate Certifications; Campaign Financing; Preparing Ballots; Publication of Election notices and the preparation and verification of various election reports.
The Town Clerk's Office also maintains Military Discharges, Foreclosure Registrations and Liquor Permits.
