Ridgefield Town Clerk Office Adaptations in Midst of COVID-19 Pandemic Although the Town Hall is closed to the public at this time, the Town Clerk's office is minimally staffed. We are managing the following business: - All vital records can be mailed; please use the appropriate request form and follow the directions and we will mail the certified vital record to you. - Recordings can be executed electronically (click here and scroll down for info), via USPS or overnight mail, or dropped off in our drop box mounted to the right of the Town Hall front door. - Land record image requests can be sent via email (click 'contact us' below) and we will send the document electronically. The $1/page fee can be submitted in a check made payable to Ridgefield Town Clerk and mailed to 400 Main Street, Ridgefield, CT 06877. - Marriage licenses may be obtained by appointment; please email or call us to make arrangements. - In-depth title searches may be done by appointment; please email or call us to make arrangements. All visitors will be required to complete and sign a Town Hall Visitor COVID-19 Screening form. - In addition to Governor Lamont's postponement of the Connecticut Presidential Preference Primary to August 11 (the same date as the state primaries), he has also announced that all Connecticut registered voters will be allowed to vote absentee. Land Records

The Town Clerk's Office maintains all of the Land Records including Deeds, Mortgages and Survey Maps.

Vital Records

Our office maintains Vital Records such as Birth, Death, Marriage and Civil Union records and issues certified copies of such. We also issue Burial and Cremation permits and maintain the Sexton reports.


We issue a variety of licenses including Dog & Kennel Licenses, Fish & Game Licenses and Marriage Licenses.

Meeting Documentation

We receive and manage agendas and minutes of 35 Town Boards and Commissions including agendas and minutes of all Town Meetings and Public Hearings.

Business Certificates and Licensing

We record and manage Trade Names Certificates for businesses doing business in the Town of Ridgefield.

Elections & Voting

The Town Clerk has many responsibilities in adminstering Elections. Among these are: Issuing, mailing and recording Absentee Ballots; Nominating Petitions; Candidate Certifications; Campaign Financing; Preparing Ballots; Publication of Election notices and the preparation and verification of various election reports.

Other Functions

The Town Clerk's Office also maintains Military Discharges, Foreclosure Registrations and Liquor Permits.
