Voter Registration Deadlines

Connecticut Presidential Primary is not until April 28, 2020, however the date to join the party of your choice and vote in that primary is fast approaching. As of now we only expect a Democratic Primary for President.

Tuesday January 28, 2020 is the last day that an enrolled elector can transfer from one party to another and be eligible to vote in the Presidential Primary. An enrolled elector who is not a member of a party, Unaffiliated, can join a party up until 12 Noon Monday April 27, 2020 and vote in the Primary. The “New” Registration deadline is also 12 Noon April 27th in person or postmarked by April 23rd if mailed.

Registration Deadlines for Elections

By Mail – Applications must be postmarked by the seventh day prior to Election Day. 

In Person – Applicants must appear in person at the Registrar of Voters Office by the seventh day prior to Election Day by 8:00 pm 

Online - Applicants must register to vote online by Tuesday, October 29, 2019 here

Those whose rights as to age, citizenship or residence mature after October 29, 2019 but by Election Day, may apply in the Registrar’s Office until 5:00 pm on the day prior to Election Day (Monday, November 4, 2019). Proof of rights maturing during this time frame is required.

Election Day Registration – Individuals may register and vote on Election Day (November 5, 2019 from 6 am to 8 pm) in the Registrar of Voters Office if they meet the eligibility requirements for voting and are not already registered to vote in the municipality. A current valid ID and proof of current residential address must be presented.

Registration Deadlines for Referendums

By Mail - Application must be received by 4:30 day before Referendum

In Person - 4:30 day before Referendum

Registration Deadlines for Primaries

By Mail - Application must be postmarked by the 5th day before a primary

In Person - Noon the last business day before Primary
