Enrollment and Party Privileges
  • In the State of Connecticut, you must be enrolled in a party to vote in their Primary or Caucus.
  • A new elector who wishes to enroll in a party must declare a party in Step 4 of the online voter registrarion or check YES and declare a party on line 9 of the State of Connecticut Mail-In Voter Registration form (ED-671)
  • You may also enroll or change your party affiliation at any time at The State of Connecticut's On Line Voter Registration System or by completeing a of the State of Connecticut Mail-In Voter Registration form (ED-671) checking the box marked "Party Enrollment Change".
  • Anyone changing from one party to another acquires party privileges 3 months after filing an application with the registrar.
  • An unaffiliated elector who enrolls in a party acquires party privileges immediately.
  • The two major Parites in Connecicut are: Democratic and Republican.
  • Currently there are 4 minor parties with statewide enrollment privileges: Green, Independent, Libertarian and Working Families.
