VOTING PROCESS FOR THE DISABLED IN RIDGEFIELD

The Registrar of Voters office provides full access to the voting process for all voters.

We provide service under the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) legislation passed by the Congress several years ago.

The following methods of voting are available to all voters:

Voting by absentee ballot.

In each polling place there is a privacy booth for use with the electronic voting machines.  It is adapted so that a voter using a wheelchair is able to move up to the writing surface to complete the ballot.

We provide a system allowing voters to use a computer keyboard, touch screen or earphones with a numerical keypad.  This system prints out your ballot once it is complete.

All polling sites in Ridgefield are handicapped accessible with handicapped parking spaces, according to state requirements.

Voters requiring assistance may ask any person for assistance (except for a union representative, employer or candidate) including the polling site moderator.
