Phase 1 and Phase 2 Wastewater Facilities Plan
What Does the WPCA Do?
The WPCA is responsible for the management and oversight of the Town's 2 Wastewater Treatment Facilities (WWTFs): the South Street WWTF serving Sewer District 1 and the Route 7 WWTF serving Sewer District 2. These facilities are aging and are reaching the end of their planned service lives, and the WPCA is currently completing a Wastewater Facilities Plan to develop the needs and estimated costs for upgrades to the 2 WWTFs as well as the wastewater collection systems.
The WPCA anticipates that upgrades to the WWTFs will be required in the near future, which will be significant capital project.
Prepared the Phase 1 Wastewater Facilities Plan to review the existing flows, loadings and capacities of the 2 WWTFs, and project the future flows and loads for the next 20 years as the first step in the planning for the upgrades of the Town's wastewater collection and treatment facilities.
Currently preparing the Phase 2 Wastewater Facilities Plan to develop the upgrade needs and estimated costs of the 2 WWTFs to meet newly imposed effluent limits, and address the worn and aging structures and equipment at each WWTF.
As part of the Wastewater Facilities Planning effort, conducted smoke testing, dye testing, manholes inspections, and house-to-house inspections for sump pumps to identify and locate sources of extraneous stormwater entering the sanitary sewer system.
Prepared a feasibility evaluation of the relocation of the existing Quail Ridge Pump Station as the initial step in planning for the needed upgrade of this 30 year old pump station.
Initiated the design of the relocation of the existing Quail Ridge Pump Station.
