Connecticut has closed Primaries. Only members of the party holding the primary may vote in the primary. An enrolled elector who is not a member of a party, Unaffiliated, can join a party up until 12 Noon Monday August 10, 2020 and vote in the Presidential Primary. The “New Voter” Registration deadline is also 12 Noon June 1st in person (at the Registra of Voters Office) or postmarked by August 6, 2020 if mailed.
Registration Deadlines for Elections
By Mail – Applications must be postmarked by the seventh day prior to Election Day.
In Person – Applicants must appear in person at the Registrar of Voters Office by the seventh day prior to Election Day by 8:00 pm
Online - Applicants must register to vote online by Tuesday, October 27, 2020 here
Those whose rights as to age, citizenship or residence mature after October 27, 2020 but by Election Day, may apply in the Registrar’s Office until 5:00 pm on the day prior to Election Day (Monday, November 2, 2020). Proof of rights maturing during this time frame is required.
Election Day Registration – Individuals may register and vote on Election Day (November 3, 2020 from 6 am to 8 pm) in the Registrar of Voters Office if they meet the eligibility requirements for voting and are not already registered to vote in the municipality. A current valid ID and proof of current residential address must be presented.
