Ridgefield Seeks Applicants for Parks and Recreation Commission

Applications are due Friday, April 30

Ridgefield Parks and Recreation is seeking applicants to fill two open positions on its board of Commissioners. The Commission consists of seven volunteer members who serve three-year terms. Qualified applicants must be registered voters who reside in Ridgefield. Interested candidates should email a letter of interest to rec@ridgefieldct.gov by Friday, March 1. The Commission will hold informal discussions with prospective candidates, and share an overview of Commission responsibilities either in-person or via Zoom during the month of March. Prospective candidates are subject to the Board of Selectpersons’ approval at a regular monthly meeting.

Ridgefield Parks and Recreation Commissioners oversee a full-time Director, and have jurisdiction over all Town parks and recreational facilities, including implementation of recreational programs. They determine policy for the department, review the annual budget, participate in special committees and regular meetings held via Zoom at 6:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month. For more information, contact Amy Platt at 203-431-2755.
