Knox Box Rapid Entry System

Knox boxes are key lock boxes purchased by residential and commercial property owners for emergency access to their property. They are mounted near the entrance to the property and hold keys, electronic access cards, floor plans and other vital emergency information. The key to the Knox box is secured on Fire Department emergency vehicles so that the Fire Department can have immediate emergency entry when responding to an alarm. Having a Knox box prevents costly forced entry damage and enables the Fire Department to secure a building after the emergency.

To obtain information on the Knox box please call (203) 431-2726 or e-mail us and we will send you detailed information. You can also look at sample Knox boxes at fire headquarters.

Burning Permits

The Ridgefield Fire Department does issue burning permits consistent with the Town Ordinance Section 7-25. Burn permits are issued for the burning of brush only. A permit may be completed at the Ridgefield Fire Department, 6 Catoonah Street, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM. There is a $10 fee.
