Notary Public

NOTARIZING DOCUMENTS

A Notary Public is on staff in the Town Clerk's Office for residents who need their signature notarized.  Please call the office prior to coming in to confirm a notary will be available.  Residents in need of document notarization must come in person and present two forms of identification.  

Please note that we cannot notarize Wills, I-9 forms or any documents that are to be recorded on the Ridgefield Land Records. Also, please note, that we cannot issue Medallion Signature Guarantee stamps. Those must be obtained at a bank, credit union, broker, or other financial firm that participates in the Medallion Signature Guarantee program.

The fee for each notarization is $5.00.

NOTARY REGISTRATION

Upon becoming a Notary Public, a resident must bring their Certificate of Appointment into the Town Clerk of the town of residence within (30) days to be sworn in and to record the Certificate of Appointment.  The recording fee for the Certificate of Appointment is $20.00.
