United Way ALICE enrichment financial assistance

United Way of Western Connecticut’s ALICE® (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) Enrichment Fund will provide families who fall within the ALICE income category* financial subsidies for their children to participate in extracurricular activities. The creation of the Fund is supported by research that shows that children who participate in youth sports (as one example) have improved levels of physical and mental health, and academic achievement.  Does your child want to play a sport, take an art class, enroll in music lessons, or something similar? We want to help your kids explore their interests and build skills outside of school. Qualified families can receive assistance for enrichment activities. Click here for more information.  This assistance is administered through the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield.

Cell Phones for Safe Seniors and People with Disabilities

This program provides deactivated cell phones capable of reaching 911 to these two groups of residents in order to give them the ability to contact emergency services when not in their homes. Both the phones and the service are free. The Department accepts donations of phones and chargers on an on-going basis.

Medicare CHOICES

In cooperation with WCAAA, the town has several trained volunteers to help those residents with questions about Medicare. Volunteers will help our seniors understand the choices available to them so they can be informed consumers. They can help you understand Medicare A, B, C, D; including supplemental plans, Medigap, Medicare Advantage plans, prescription coverage and more. Appointments are available during the enrollment period annually Oct.-Dec. or by appointment during the year for those turning 65.

The Latchkey Kid Program

Latchkey Kid offers assistance to low-income, single parent, working families in paying for before- and after-school daycare for children between the ages of 5 and 12.

The Campership Program

This Program provides financial assistance to Ridgefield children to enable them to attend the Parks and Recreation Department Day Camp during the summer months.
