Purchasing

About Us

The Purchasing Department procures materials, equipment and services at the lowest cost consistent with the quality and suitability of those proposed. It does this by following the guidelines established in the Purchasing Policy as approved by the Board of Selectman:

The Purchasing Agent shall procure all items for all Town departments except the Board of Education, Library Board, and Probate Court.

The Purchasing Department may delegate, at its discretion, some of these responsibilities to the individual Departments, as the situation warrants.

The Purchasing Department is responsible for the administration of all Public Bids.

  • Items in excess of $5,000 should go to bid.
  • The State of Connecticut extends all of its contracts to Towns & Municipalities. Each of the contracts have been competitively bid and awarded by DAS Procurement Services in accordance with Ct. General Statutes.
  • Contracts for professional or recurring services are not required to go out to bid.  Professional services are specific exempted from public bidding procedures.

The Purchasing Department conducts purchasing without regard to political affiliation, race, color, age, religion, national origin, ancestry, physical disability, sex, familial relationship, or business association of vendors, contractors or consultants.
