Rudy Marconi, a native of Ridgefield, grew up here attending St. Mary School and Ridgefield High School. Rudy graduated from Nichols College of Business Administration earning a BBA. Upon graduating college Rudy went to work in the paper and printing industry and returned to Ridgefield in the late ‘80s to join his Father’s contracting company.
In 1989 Rudy ran and won a seat on Planning and Zoning and served with that Commission for four years. In 1993 Rudy was elected to the Board of Selectmen and served four years and in 1999 won his first election as First Selectman. Since then Rudy has been successful, being reelected for five terms, the last being a four-year term.
As First Selectman, Rudy has served on many Regional Committees. As a member of the Housatonic Valley Council of Elected Officials, our regional planning agency (HVCEO) Rudy has served as both Chair and Vice Chair. Ridgefield is a member of the Housatonic Resource Recovery Authority (the regional agency responsible for the proper disposal of solid waste and the promotion of recycling) and Rudy has served as its Chair and currently as Vice Chair. Rudy was asked by his colleagues in Fairfield County to serve as Chair of the Alliance for Sensible Airspace Planning, an organization that continues to monitor the FAA and its use of airspace over Fairfield County. In Emergency Management, Rudy is Vice Chair of DEMHS (Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security) Region 5, a State of CT organization responsible for the proper training and implementation of emergency procedures and protocols during emergencies. Additionally, Rudy is a member of the Board of Directors of CCM (Connecticut Conference of Municipalities) and COST (The Council of Small Towns), both organizations working to promote municipalities in Hartford.
In Ridgefield Rudy has established such organizations as the Lyme Disease Task Force, the Ridgefield Coalition against Alcohol and Substance Abuse and is past President of the Ridgefield Old Timers Association.
