The Connecticut Probate Courts are statutory in nature, having powers granted under the Connecticut General Statutes. Ridgefield's Probate Court is one of the 133 probate districts in Connecticut. Included among its board functions are the probate of wills, approval of accountings submitted by trustees, conservators, administrators of decedent's estates, appointment of guardians for minor's estates and for the handicapped. Probate courts also have jurisdiction over adoptions in Connecticut.
Hearings are informal and offer people an opportunity to be heard, seek additional information, and resolve differences.
