Our youth programs offer something for every interest.  From arts to sports, your child will be engaged in a fun activity while learning.  We strive to provide a place where children look forward to learning, having fun, and making new friends!

Technology Classes

Claymation Moviemaker: (Grades 3-5) Clay and animation, what a perfect combination!  Working in teams, students do it all.  From creating story lines and molding characters out of clay to building the sets, they will learn the complete movie production process.  Using a digital camera and computer software, they will bring it all to life.  Each student will receive a CD of their final masterpiece to take home and share with their friends and family.  This class is perfect for the budding filmmaker.  February 28 - March 27  •  Tuesday 4:45 - 5:45 pm  •  $221 members, $248 non-members

Lego® In Motion: (Grades 1-2)  Do you have a curious and inventive child?  We are offering an innovative computer class where students will learn how to use wheels, axels, motors, kinetic energy, and balance to create cool contraptions.  This program is designed to get your child excited about science, technology, engineering, and math.  March 1 - March 29  •  Tuesday 4:45 - 5:45 pm  •  $129 members, $159 non-members


 

Guitar
Does your child want to rock out?  He/she will learn chords, scales, basic theory and, best of all, learn to play their favorite songs.  Classes will focus on providing a high-level of instruction in a fun, cooperative atmosphere.  Classes are limited to 6 people.  Guitars are provided in the class and will be available for rental for jam sessions at home.

Dance           
Continuing its longtime relationship with the Ridgefield Parks & Recreation, the MacDonald-Pin Dancers, LLC, is a family oriented studio dedicated to providing all students with strong techniques, artistic expression, self-confidence, and a love of dance!  This complete program offers core classes in ballet, tap, pointe, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical as well as unique combination classes for the student who can't choose between tap, ballet or jazz.  All levels are offered for beginners through advanced (ages 3 - adult) in our two state-of the-art studios.  For more information please contact Carrie Pin at (203) 744-2279.

PERFORMANCE TEAM (Grades 6 - 12): For students who take 3 or more dance classes per week.  Performance team provides a learning environment that helps improve performance ability, develop spatial awareness when performing in groups, and understand how to work with more complicated timing and choreography.  Performance team members enjoy concentrating simply on performing techniques.

January 24 - June 5
The session ends with a recital in June.

Budding young artists (grades K-2) of all skill levels are invited to this new and exciting art class that explores with paint, clay, and more.

Multimedia Madness
Children (grades 4-8) will enjoy a brief lesson in art history and then replicate the masters using paint, pastels, charcoals, and more.  Indulge your child's creative ambitions.

Kempo Karate
Master Craigue has over 20 years experience in the martial arts.  As a student progresses there are “belt advancement tests” and every spring a large regional tournament is hosted here at the Recreation Center.  Students will understand and use the martial arts in order to develop self-discipline, self-control, and respect for others.  

There is open enrollment for this program.  Sign up any month.

Tennis
Instructor Jonathan Chase returns with his popular tennis programs for children of all ages.  Participants should bring a tennis racquet, water bottle and wear sneakers.

Zumbatomic®
Children will have a blast in this group exercise class with fitness instructor Roxanne.  They will have fun, get fit, and learn new dance styles as they groove to the sounds of salsa, merengue, hip hop, reggaeton, and more.

SNAG® (Starting New at Golf)

SNAG® contains all the elements of golf, but in a modified form.  Falling somewhere between miniature golf and regulation golf, SNAG® allows for full shots, pitching, chipping, and putting.  It is a proven learning and training tool for entry-level golfers.
