Lifeguard Certification Courses
In this course students, ages 15+, will learn about the duties and responsibilities of a lifeguard and how to carry them out in a professional manner. You will learn a number of lifeguard techniques, such as surveillance, how to use rescue equipment for a distressed swimmer, active drowning victim and passive drowning victim and how to care for someone who may have a head, neck or back injury. Participants must pass pre-course and attend all classes to obtain certification.
Pre-Course Skills Test
• Swim 550 yards continuously, using the following strokes:
-200 yards front crawl; using rhythmic breathing & propellant kick
-200 yards breaststroke; using a pull, breathe, kick sequence
-150 yards of either front crawl or breaststroke or a combination
• Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-lb object from the bottom, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder/steps within 1 minute, 40 seconds
• Swim 5 yards; submerge and retrieve 3 dive rings placed 5 yards apart in 4-7 feet of water; resurface and swim 5 yards to the side of the pool

Fees*: $360 Members, $410 Non-members
*Includes a $150 non-refundable deposit in the event that a participant does not pass the pre-course and is ineligible for the training program.
