The medal was designed by Ridgefielder, Fred Glissmann for the towns 1976 American Bicentennial celebration. It depicts the American heroes of the 1777 Battle of Ridgefield, Generals David Wooster and Benedict Arnold on the front, and a description of Arnold in action (as proposed for a commemorative medal on the floor of Congress by Massachusetts representative John Adams in May, 1777).
This medal is made of zinc and copper, and was cast from the dies originally created by Glissmann in 1976.
This one-time run consists of 1500 medals.
